An Advent Prayer

Dear Lord, you are good beyond all that is good and fair beyond all that is fair.

Calmness and peace reside with you.

My Christmas wish is that you will reconcile the differences that divide us from one another.

We bring before you the disunity of our world; the violence, the wars, the intolerance of those who are unlike us in appearance or in beliefs.

We bring before you the disunity that reveals judgment and strife, and the

disunity that challenges the courage of people to reach out to one another.

Send your spirit and renew the face of the earth;

Bring us back into the unity of love, and let us bear human likeness to your divine nature.

Grant that we may be spiritually one, both within ourselves and with one another,

through the grace, mercy, and tenderness of your Son, Jesus Christ.
